How a recorded labels get new artists?
A&R
Artist and Repertoire, in A&R is somebody who scout artist and talent and work with them, help them to develop to become a mature artist.
Main roles of A&R:
- Find Talent
- Overseeing the recording process
- Assisting with marketing and promotion
They can still work with the artist after got signed. Their job also include: listening to the demo, aligning artists with producers and offering input. They play an important role for the artist, they can decided what songs they should sing or play and how to market the artists.
They help the artists to produce some music or pieces in order to sign them into a big recoded labels.
Some major record labels are willing to sign some group not very musically but they have got some special points or marketing points that the other bands don't.
The music platforms such Apple music, Spotify etc do give data out to A&R therefore they can see where the trend is going.
Songs I think can is marketable:
The first one is Nature of Things, this is a 90s countryside music, it has a chill vibe which is suitable to the artist. Now days people start liking vintage things, so I think this kind of music could be popular. The melody is easy to remember, and it seems can be use for tiktok. This is hip hop rap style but also have melody, which I think is suitable for the artist because this kind of rap style music is chill to listen.
